REBELLION 65, DC BULLETS 61
The season had come down to one game; 48 minutes of basketball would decide the FILCOM champion. The DC BULLETS, the undefeated team won 9 with their effort and energy in order to have a chance to win it all on Wednesday night, 10-23-2013. The fans were ready to see the #1 seeds; DC BULLETS battle the #2 REBELLION for a FILCOM trophy. It would be the second times these two teams met, and Ralph and Tony were looking to finally beat the DC BULLETS. Without Kris, from team REBELLION their star player. On the first quarter, things looked good for the DC BULLETS when AJ hit an opening three, which was his first of the Finals. The DC BULLETS guards were also very effective in the opening minutes of the game, as Gregg, Gerome and AJ got to many offensive rebounds. At one point the DC BULLETS had the offensive rebounding margin 4-0. DC BULLETS team was hitting shot after shot and with 4:55 left in the first, the DC BULLETS were up 21-7. It was clear that the DC BULLETS guards were bothering the REBELLION, thus the rebounding margin. The REBELLION was making effort plays and was definitely crashing the boards well. However, the DC BULLETS still led 26-11 with fewer than two minutes left in the first. The momentum began to shift toward the REBELLION, which was something the DC BULLETS didn’t want. The opening period ended with the DC BULLETS leading 28-15. The REBELLION shot a horrible 21% from the field, while the DC BULLETS shot 59%. The REBELLION did however win the rebounding margin, 12-7. Gregg the LEAGUE MVP led the DC BULLETS in scoring with 10, while Al had a quick 3 points off the bench. The REBELLION had to pick up their game fast. The DC BULLETS started the second quarter with the same lineup they started with every game on the regular season. Tony was looking for energy and hopefully a run that will take the lead. The DC BULLETS opened up the period on a 5-0 keep the lead to 32-21. The DC BULLETS continued their flow and eventually rallied to take the lead, 34-25. They played with energy and absolutely killed the REBELLION on the offensive boards. The REBELLION took many three point shot, but it wasn’t going in. Both teams kept on battling and neither team lost their focus or energy. It was punch after punch, the DC BULLETS and REBELLION matched each other’s every move. With fewer than two minutes left in the half, the DC BULLETS were leading the REBELLION by 10. Gregg was the DC BULLETS leading scorer, with 8 points on the second quarter. He also grabbed 7 rebounds. The REBELLION had to find a way to score the ball while dominating the glass, if they wanted to win the game. On the third quarter the DC BULLETS did not open up the second half as they wanted; there was little to no energy and their offense was very sluggish. The REBELLION took the advantage to keep up with the DC BULLETS with 9:45 left in the third. The DC BULLETS were playing sloppy basketball and things were not looking good, lots of turnover. They were taking good shots, but just couldn’t knock them down. However, things quickly changed and the REBELLION cranked up their effort. With the two R&R on the same team, the MVP Champion Ryan "SPEEDY" and Ralph leading the way, the REBELLION turned a 19 point deficit down to 11 points by the end of the third. Going into the final period, the score was 50-39. The DC BULLETS had to play the best quarter of their lives in order to win the title and to keep their winning streak. The final period started with the REBELLION quickly cutting the lead down to 4 points. After that point, neither team could buy a bucket. With less than two minutes into the fourth, the REBELLION led 55-50. The REBELLION played much better in the final half of the final period. Thanks to Ryan and the REBELLION were able to tie the game at 61. The momentum was shifting toward the REBELLION, and the crowd was in a complete emotion. Ryan hit both free throws and gave the REBELLION a 66-61 lead. Eddie Boy had been struggling the whole game, due to his cold and couldn’t get his shot in the basket but he did helped DC BULLETS with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Most people expected Eddie Boy and AJ to be the person that would make big plays for the DC BULLETS, but it was actually it was all Gregg. The final buzzer rang and the scoreboard read, REBELLION 65, DC BULLETS 61. The REBELLION finally beat the DC BULLETS in the FINAL, the REBELLION are the 2013 FALL FILCOM CHAMPIONS. The REBELLION have completed the season with an FILCOM championship. It was a great season, REBELLION beat DC BULLETS and now they have to plan for a back to back Champion, can R&R ANICIETI do it again. We will find out next season, starting on October 30,2013.
